Joseph Vernon Hubbs, 67, of West Plains, Mo., formerly of the Alton/ Bethalto area, died June 4, 1987, following a tractor accident in West
Plains. Hubbs was a truck driver in the
Alton area for many years before his retirement.
He was born in Equality, son of the late Joseph Robert Hubbs and Bessie Stricklin Hubbs Yeager.
On May 20, 1939, in Joliet, he married the former Marjorie Fielding, who survives. Also surviving, are, two sons, Robert Hubbs ofCalifornia and Terry Hubbs of West Plains; two
daughters, Connie Rapp of California and Verna Udall of West Plains; 13 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Hazel
Palumbo and Wanda Glover, both of California, Helen Rhodes of Ramsey, 111., and Wilma Hosford of Alton; and four brothers, Bruce McFadden, Nolan and Logan Hubbs, and Wiley Yeager, all of
California. Joseph Vernon Hubbs was preceded in death by two brothers, Noble and Calvin; one sister, Nigel McMurray; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted June 8 at the Carter Funeral Home in West Plains.
