Whoever ordered his headstone, ordered it incorrectly. This is actually John M. Dobler who served in the regiment I added as a flower--44th IA Inf. John J. Dobler who served in the 21st Iowa is buried in Washington state Find A Grave Memorial# 28394269. This happens regularly with stones ordered later. John M. Dobler's death certificate indicates that he died at Davenport and is buried at DeWitt and his Civil War pension indicates that he died at Davenport. If there is a family member or veteran's group, they should be able to order a headstone with the correct name and regiment.
