Mr. Ferris was one of three Greenfield basketball players to receive a letter to try out for the 1943 All-Star Team and was selected to be one of the first inductees into the Greenfield Central Athletic Hall of Fame.
Mr. Ferris served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Army during the Korean War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
