Gloria (Postman) Bateman, 62, went to her Lord surrounded by many family and friends January 19, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Edmond, Okla., graduated from Deer Creek High School with honors and subsequently Central State University (UCO) with an honors degree in Elementary Education.
She married Ron Bateman in 1970. They lived in Missouri and Texas until returning to Oklahoma in 2010 after retirement. She was a member of Hopewell Free Will Baptist church in Norman, Okla.
Gloria absolutely loved being with family and friends. She loved to read. You could see how Gloria loved quilting just by walking in her home and seeing countless quilts.
She is survived by her husband Ron of Moore, Okla., daughter Michelle and son-in-law Chad LaFerry of Guthrie, Okla., and sister Bonnie and brother-in-law John Bowman of Edmond.
The family invites friends to a come-and-go reception 5-8 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2012 at Crawford Family Funeral Service of Edmond.
