Ruth worded for many years with her husband as a secretary at Folkening Insurance and Real Estate Agency in New Palestine and taught piano lessons. She was active in Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine and was a charter member of the Indiana District Lutheran Women's Missionary league and Friendly Neighbors Home Economics Club. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church and the local Society of the LWML and helped organize the delivered Tote Meals to people in the New Palestine area. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Warren Central High School and graduated from Indiana Business Colleage.
