RAYMOND F. ALEXANDER, age 80, of Fairfield, Pa., passed on to his eternal life on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1931, in Kline, W. Va., son of the late Ola V. and George W. Alexander. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley M. (Shultz) Alexander.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Dennis Alexander and wife, Cheryl of Westminster, Md.; Kay Eyler of Orrtanna, Pa.; Latricia Brent and husband, Bill; Donna Blackstone and husband, Eric; and Craig Alexander and wife, Tracey, all of Fairfield, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Warnie Alexander of Piqua, Ohio, and two sisters; Grace Dunkle of Essex, Md. and Neva Morris of Dade City, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Raymond graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1950. He retired from the Frick Co. of Waynesboro, Pa., after 31 years of faithful service. He was a life-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfield. Raymond was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather working on the family farm in his early years; had a lawn mower repair service on his off hours; drove a bus for the Fairfield School System; managed the Fairfield Water Works and drove a bus for the Fairfield Shoe Factory. His favorite pastime was working, he could always be found in his workshop fixing whatever needed fixed.

A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Fairfield, on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Christopher Frye officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 13 E. Main St., Fairfield, Pa. 17320 or the Fairfield Fire and EMS, 106 Steelman St., Fairfield, Pa. 17320. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by the Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, Pa.
