John Kimball, son of Jonathan and Mary (Snow) Kimball, was born at Plaistow, New Hampshire, June 22, 1784, died 1860.

He learned the trade of blacksmith from his father and set up a shop in Amesbury, Massachusetts, where he lived the remainder of his life, working at his trade and carrying on a farm. He was an active Democrat in politics, and in religion was a Congregationalist.

He married, May 12, 1813, Sarah N., daughter of Jacob and Sarah Lancaster, of Amesbury, Massachusetts; she died at Exeter, 1876; aged eighty-four. He died aged 76 years.
