Martha was married to Nelson Adams and was the daughter of Ancil and Martha Mathis. Daughters were N.L., Elizabeth Ann Adams Wilson, Rebecca, Martha L, Mary Catherine, Sally, and Nancy Adams. Sons were; Asa, Kinchin (Adams Cemetery),Ancel, Peter H., Rev Stephen T, William M, Giles, and Joseph Adams. Martha died when an oil lamp explosed, burning her, she later died of the burns she received. The marks on the cabin that were made from the explosion still remained as long as the cabin stood.
