He and his wife, Stella, owned and operated a farm between Uniontown and Genesee for 30 years.
The son of Peter and Ka tie Scharbach Kinzer, he was born Jan. 19, 1913, at Uniontown. He attended Uniontown schools and graduated from high school in 1932 from St. Martin's College in the Olympia area.
After high school, he worked as a construction foreman during the building of the Grand Coulee Dam and then in the shipyards at Seattle until 1942.
Kinzer joined the U.S. Navy and served with the Seabees in the European, North African, Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific campaigns. He was discharged in 1945.
He married Stella Wittman Feb. 23, 1946, at Uniontown. They worked their farm from 1946 until retirement in 1976. They lived on the farm until March 1985, when they moved to Colton.
Kinzer was a communicant of St. Boniface Catholic Church at Uniontown, the Uniontown Knights of Columbus, Uniontown American Legion No. 214, and the Uniontown Co-op, serving as its president.
He enjoyed physical fitness, traveling and playing cards.
In addition to a son, Neil Kinzer, who died in 1972, a brother and three sisters died previously.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Boniface, with funeral Mass to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at St. Boniface. The Rev. Paul S. Vevik will be celebrant. Burial will follow at Uniontown Catholic Cemetery.
