Herman Nathaniel Storesund was born in Ogden, Iowa on December 9, 1897. Herman was the eighth of eleven children of Rasmus Storesund and Emma Hageleen Storesund. His father was born in Norway and his mother was born in Sweden. Herman grew up in Ogden, Iowa. He lived in Omaha, Nebraska for many years working at the Columbia Fire Underwriters Agency. In the 1930's he was a proprietor of the Ideal Potato Chip Company in Des Moines, Iowa, which was later sold to Hyland Potato Chips. He lived out the remainder of his life in Des Moines, Iowa.
