Matie F. Stillman was born December 12, 1882 at Orleans, NE to James and Abigail Fuller Williams and died March 6, 1979 at the Ord Rest Home at the age of 96.

She moved with her family to North Loup as a child where she attended school. After receiving her education, Matie moved with her family to Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Arthur Stillman January 1, 1903 at Gentry, Arkansas. They lived in Oklahoma for a few years where they homesteaded, then came to North Loup in a covered wagon in 1910. North Loup has been her home with the exception of the last three years when she was a resident of the Ord Rest Home. Matie was a member of the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Edgar of Scotia and Merlyn of North Loup, two daughters, Mrs. Elery (Iva) King and Mrs. Victor (Ada) King, both of North Loup; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter; and one brother, Bert Williams of Ord. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 23, 1973, two sons, two granddaughters, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services were held Thursday (today), March 8, 1979 at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup with Rev. Victor Skaggs officiating. Mrs. Louise Brennick was the organist for Mrs. Jeneane Abel as she sang, 'The Old Rugged Cross', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'In the Garden'. Pallbearers were Vernon Williams, Udel Williams, Horace Williams, Harold Williams, LaRoss Williams, and Harwood Rice. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup with the Ord Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
