Ruth Cobb Arnold, EdD, 86 of DeLand passed away at the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Care Center in Orange City on January 10, 2012. She was born in Pensacola on April 19, 1925 and was an Education Professor Emeritus at Stetson University.

Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in DeLand. She enjoyed collecting Bibles and rocks from all over the world. Ruth was a world traveler and an avid researcher and reader.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Charles Lynn Arnold, son Charles Barrett Arnold, daughter Adria Arnold Brand, parents Allison S, Cobb, Sr. and Bessie Mae Earnest Cobb, brothers David H. Cobb and Allison S. Cobb, Jr. and sister Alba Cobb Chance.

She is survived by daughters Lynn Ward of Keystone Heights and Meredith Kelly of DeLand; brothers William E. Cobb and Lamar B. Cobb, both of Pensacola; grandchildren Layla Craine of DeBary, Michael Kelly of Longwood, Shannon Kemp of DeLand and Rock Kelly of DeLand and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13th from 6-8pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14th at 11am at the First Baptist Church of DeLand with Reverend Johnny Long officiating. Interment will take place at Oakdale Cemetery.
