Emily C. (Germain) Tyler, 88, formerly of Lancaster, NH, passed away on Saturday September 24, 2011 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin. She was born in Lunenburg, VT on February 5, 1923 the daughter of Joseph and Carrie (Lamonte) Germain and lived in Milan for several years, Gorham for 26 years and then in Lancaster for 23 years before moving to Berlin. She had been a member of the Winthrop Grange in Shelburne, the Civil Air Patrol in Berlin and had volunteered for many community activities. She was the Volunteer of the Year from Weeks Memorial Hospital and the Town of Lancaster and was Citizen of the Year from the Gorham Rotary Club. Emily was also the recipient of Mother of The Firefighter of the Year Award from the Town of Gorham.

Members of the family include her son Roger Guilmette and his wife Lucille of Gorham, NH; daughters Shirley Gilbert and her husband Fred of Gorham, NH and Susan (Tyler) Garinger of Houlton, ME; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister Betty Finley of Belfast, ME and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband Philip Guilmette, her second husband James A. Tyler and a son James R. Tyler.
