MARION, Va. Merchie Rhymer Pennington, age 88, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Carrington Place in Wytheville, Va. She was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Konnarock, Va. to the late Jessie and Lillie Thompson Rhymer. She was a lifelong member of the Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Pennington; son-in-law, Frank Faehner; and brothers, Ernest and Herman Rhymer. Mrs. Pennington is survived by one daughter, Joy Faehner of Brinklow, Md.; one son, Alan Pennington and wife, Dianne, of New Bern, N.C.; one brother, Bill Rhymer of Konnarock; three grandchildren, Stephanie Juneau and husband, Jeff, Stephen Faehner and wife, Hollie, and Troy Pennington and wife, Tyra; eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle Juneau, Owen, Jack and Sam Faehner, Reed Pennington and Bethany and Madison Cooper; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor David Tripp officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
