Victor Walter Grundman was born May 11, 1928 in Nebraska City, the son of Carl and Emma (Neeman) Grundman. He married Mary Ann Schomerus May 20, 1954 in Nebraska City. Mary Ann died April 29, 2011. Vic lived within five miles of Nebraska City his entire life and was a lifelong farmer. He also owned and operated Grundman Airport in Nebraska City for many years. Over his career as a pilot, he taught hundreds of people to fly and logged over 13,000 hours in the cockpit. Vic was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, in which he served on numerous committees and boards; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 968 and Past Member of the Jaycees, all in Nebraska City. He loved gardening, playing cards and telling jokes. Over several years, he donated more than 13 gallons of blood to the Blood Bank. He served on the Maple Grove Rural School Board for 17 years. Survivors include his sons, Dean Grundman and his wife DeLynn of Fort Collins, CO and Dale Grundman and his wife Candace of Union; daughter, Gaylene Tinnean and her husband Todd of Lincoln; grandchildren, Adessa and Aundrea Grundman and Cody and Tyler Tinnean; brothers, Donald Grundman and his wife LaVonne of Nebraska City and Aldean Grundman of Berryville, AR; brother in law, Don Schomerus of Nebraska City and sister in law, Lois Schomerus of Syracuse; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and sisters, Dorothy Stout, Lois Berger and Carol Dougherty. Vic died January 20, 2012 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 9 days.
