George F. Arth, Jr., 85, of Marshall, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Kevin Gormley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial with military rites will be held in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born August 7, 1926, in Dover, MO, he was the son of the late George Franklin Arth, Sr. and Catherine Long Arth. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Germany as a supply clerk. On January 29, 1973, he married Janice M. Huff who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was employed at International Shoe Factory, Kent's Liquor Store and was a groundskeeper for Sherri Estates. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, he survived by one son, Mark E. Arth and wife Kristi of Ashland, MO; one daughter, Rhonda M. Hubbard of Marshall; two grandchildren, Franklin Lewis Dean Brown of Buffalo, MN and Kelsey Renee Hubbard of Marshall; one brother, Ray Arth of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey L. Arth and Eric L. Arth; two sisters, Elaine Arth and Margaret Arth; and three brothers, Louis Arth, Kenneth Arth and Bob Arth.
