Benton Melvin Threet, 89, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 21, 2007. Funeral services were conducted Dec. 27 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Davis Babcock officiating. Burial was held Dec. 28 at Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Veterans Honor Guard served as pallbearers and also provided full military honors.
Mr. Threet was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Davidson, TN, in Fentress County.
Before retiring, he was an inspector for General Motors and also served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of Meridian Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, William Benton and Joyce Threet and Tom and Tina Threet; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Threet Stong and Rex Stong; grandchildren, Leah Threet, Marc Threet, Tracey Shoemake, Tyler Threet, Susan Smart and husband David, and Sarah Chrouch and husband Gus; great-grandchildren, Tod Campbell, Elizabeth Chrouch and Billie Chrouch; and brothers, Walter Threet and Vinston Threet.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Threet; his parents; brothers, Denton and Clinton Threet; and sister, Christine Emery.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
