Cameron Willit, 17, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012. He was born November 2, 1994 in Amarillo, TX to Bruce and Gina Willit. He moved with his family to Edmond when he was 16 months old. He was a junior at Edmond Memorial and participated in the Bulldog Band his freshman year and Irondogz robotics. He was active in Troop 79 as Senior Patrol Leader, elected to the Order of the Arrow, and attained the rank of Life Scout. He loved being outdoors and the best part of campouts was either climbing something or building campfires, the bigger the better. His favorite hobby was computers; he built his own, and enjoyed having friends over for all-night LAN parties. He enjoyed swimming and loved his job as lifeguard at the Chimney Hill pool.

He took many trips with his family, but his favorite trip was to Scotland. There he wielded a 500-year-old broadsword and attempted to pick up the cannon balls recovered from the castle walls. He turned a family hike at the Old Man of Storr into a race to the Needle rock formation at the top of the mountain. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather. He is survived by his parents, sister Kaitlyn (22) and brother Matthew (20), paternal grandmother, maternal grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The Willit family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a memorial fund to honor Cameron at http://cameronwillitmemorial.com or donations can be made in his name to this year's Swine Week campaign at Edmond Memorial High School. Visitation was at Baggerley Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and the funeral Mass was 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond.
Services entrusted to the care of Baggerley Funeral Home.
