JIMMIE L. ABNEY, 67, of 520 Second Ave., a retired machinist, died Saturday at home.

He was the husband of Lorraine (Fevry) Abney. Born in Newbury, S.C., a son of the late Walter and Susie (Watts) Abney, he had lived in Woonsocket for most of his life.

Mr. Abney had been a machinist at the Whitinsville Machine Shop for 20 years, until retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. James Baptist Church, and a former member of Corinthian Lodge 3, F&AM, Prince Hall Affiliation.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Jermaime Greene and Ryan Lavalle, both of Woonsocket; four daughters, Tangee St. Pierre, Dawn Barnwell and Jasmine Lavalle, all of Woonsocket, and Darlene Crocker of Manville; a stepson, Brian Desjardins in New Hampshire; a stepdaughter, Andrea Farrow of Providence; two sisters, Lily Harmon of Greenwood, S.C., and Evelyn Abney of Woonsocket; a brother, Benny Abney of Woonsocket; and five grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Charles L. Abney, Katie Harmon and Corine Ward.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. James Baptist Church, 340 South Main St. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield.
