Charles was born in Ireland. He immigrated to the Huron District of Huron County with his family in 1837. He died as a result of hardships endured while involved with the 1837 Rebellion.* * * * * "They came home to die, many of them, within three months, as a result of hardships endured while away. Charles Hanley was one of four men, all under twenty-five who came back only to leave again for a longer journey."
