Ira Kenneth Eskridge, 85, died Feb. 20, 2005, at Warrenton Overlook.
Born Dec. 22, 1920, in Bristersburg, he was a son of John Burl Eskridge and Mary Elizabeth Colvin Eskridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Zola E. Ornorff and Selvin Colvin Eskridge, and his wife, Anne Marriott Piercy.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Anne Eskridge of Bristersburg and Jean Mason Eskridge Shirley of Greenwood, S.C., and two grandchildren, Joe A. Shirley II of Greenwood, S.C., and Mason Burl Eskridge Shirley of Clinton, S.C.
As a young man, Mr. Eskridge was an apprentice watch and clock maker in Washington, D.C. A lifelong resident of Fauquier County, he was a farmer most of his life. He was a communicant of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Catlett. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge 133 in Warrenton for 57 years. He was also a direct descendant of Col. George Eskridge, a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses and the King's Attorney.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Warrenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Stephen's Building Fund, 8538 Greenwich Road, Catlett, Va. 20119.
