Was the 2nd of 9 children of Robert and Jennie (McGrandle) Allingham.

His birth name was Joseph Nevin Allingham, however he legally changed it to Nevin Joseph Allingham.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Married Regina Elizabeth "Jean" Capp on July 24, 1934 in Butler, PA.

They had 5 children:
1) Robert Charles Allingham Sr. (1935-2010).
2) Audrey Jean Allingham (Infant death, 1937).
3) Frank Nevin Allingham (1938-1997).
4) Jean Ann Allingham (1939- ).
5) Sandra Lee Allingham (1944-2013).

He was a firefighter for the City of Pittsburgh.

He died at age 48 from a myocardial infarction and arteriosclerotic coronary artery disease.
