GRANITE DISTRICT TEACHER DIES AT 56

Mrs. Reva Stevens Smoot, 56, 1245-4th East, teacher in the Granite School District, died Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Leland K. (Colleen) Baxter, 555 E. 2950 North, Provo, after a long illness.

She taught at Wallsburg, Wasatch County, three years and later taught fourth grade classes at the Boone, Whittier and Madison schools in the Granite district since 1943.

She was born Nov. 27, 1902, in Emery, Emery County, a daughter of Ezra A. and Maud McDonald Stevens. She attended Brigham Young University.

*On June 16 [14], 1930, she was married to Abraham Owen Smoot, IV in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died Nov. 17, 1949.

Active in the LDS Church, she was noted for her singing ability.

Survivors include a daughter and two sons, Abraham Owen Smoot, V, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. [Colleen] Baxter and Robert Stevens Smoot, both of Provo.

Also surviving are her brother [sic], Provo; a brother and two sisters, Donald O. Stevens, Layton; Mrs. Dixie Godfrey, Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Duella Jakeman, Orem, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at noon in the Liberty LDS Ward chapel, 445 Harvard Ave. (1115 South). Friends may call at the Aura C. Hatch Mortuary, Provo, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the residence in Salt Lake City, 1245-4th East, Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
