Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty for Joe L. Pittman, 83, of Liberty. Rev. Ernest Whittington and Rev. Shan Van Norman officiated. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Mr. Pittman passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Liberty Community Living Center.

Born January 21, 1928, in McNairy County, Tennessee, Mr. Pittman was the son of Albert and Jenny Dixon Pittman, both deceased.

Mr. Pittman was a retired millwright. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church near Liberty. He was a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge and a Master Mason for 50-plus years.

In addition to his parent, Mr. Pittman was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters; and a stepson, Charles Ratcliff.

Mr. Pittman leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Evelyn Pittman of Liberty; two sons, Kenny Leroy Pittman of Houston, Texas, and Ernest Wayne "Pee-Wee" Pittman of Jackson, Louisiana; two stepchildren, Frances Cruise and Earl W. Ravencraft, both of Liberty; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorine Malone of Michie, Tennessee.
