Juanita Shields Oates of Azle, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at a Fort Worth care center after suffering a stroke in March.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. July 24 at Cornerstone Community Church in Springtown. Burial was in the Lynn Creek Cemetery in Jacksboro.
She was born Billie Juanita Neighbors in Rochester, Texas Dec. 24, 1928. She lived most of her life in Plainview where she married Rollan Shields in 1949.

Juanita and Rollan were long-time members of Jaybird Lane Assembly of God Church, later called Outreach of Love. There Juanita was church secretary and director of daycare for many years. Recently she was a founding member of Cornerstone Church of Springtown.
Survivors include her sister, Oleta Grizzle and husband Ted of McKinney; brother, Lavoe Neighbors and wife Mary of Parker; daughters, Rollene Storms and husband Stephen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Rita Almaguer and husband John of Fort Worth; sons, Lyndall Shields and wife Linda of Azle, and Daryle Shields and wife Rosemary of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and extended Oates family.
Juanita was very proud that several of her grandchildren and her church are involved in missions work in New York, Romania, and Mongolia. Her children would be honored if donations could be made to the Juanita Shields Missions Fund at Springtown Wells Fargo Bank.
