MRS. GEO. ALLEE DIED SUNDAY AT OSKALOOSA.
Made Her Home in Belle Plaine from 1870 to 1910.
Mrs. George Allee, Sr., well-known and highly respected former resident of this city passes away at the home in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Sunday, July 28. The death of this pioneer mother came as a shock to many friends in this city who were not aware of her illness. On Friday preceeding her demise, she suffered a paralytic stroke which resulted in her death as above stated. The body was brought to this city on Tuesday afternoon and funeral services in charge of Rev. Vinton Lee of the Congregational Church were held at the Driscoll Funeral Home at 3:00. The interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery. The husband and all the members of her family, with the exception of one son living in California, who was unable to be present, accompanied the body here. Others from out of the city who were in attendance at the last rights were Mrs. James Taylor, son and daughter of Boone; Mr. Robert Burns of Clinton; Miss Maude Rose; Mrs. F. Grefe; Mrs. Clair Arnold; Mrs. Roy Barrows; Mr. & Mrs. Sam Wallace; and Mrs. Roy Graft, all of Oskaloosa, and Mr. & Mrs. Guy Allee of Chelsea..
Jane Mitchell Burns was born in Little Grant, Wis. on July 24, 1849 and passed away at her home in Oskaloosa, Iowa on July 28, 1929, aged 80 years and four days. She came to this city with her parents in 1869 and was married here to George A Allee in 1870, making this place their home until 1910 when they located in Oakaloosa where she lived until her death. Besides the husband and companion of the past fifty-nine years, she leaves to mourn her death, her four children, namely; J.W. Allee of Elsinore, CA; George S. Allee of Kansas City, Mo; Mrs. H.C. Peters of Manhattan, KS; and Mrs. J.A. Stoltz of Oskaloosa. There are also four grandchildren and three grandchildren surviving, and mandy friends having been loved by all who knew her..
