On last Monday morning, Emma Fillinger departed this life, aged about 24 years. About 1 1/2 years ago, she became a sufferer from the disease consumption, and it became evident to her friends that the ice band of death would soon chill the beating pulse of life. She herself gave up all hopes of recovery several weeks ago, and with meekness and Christian patience, resigned herself to the stern decree. Her cheerful disposition to the last, evidenced a sunshine of hope in something brighter than earth affords, and she met death without so much as a murmur of regret. Thus with the bloom of youth upon her brow, Emma was called upon to lay aside her earthly mantle. The funeral of the deceased was preached at Salem Church on Tuesday morning.
