Carl Archie Birge, 88, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 with his family by his side.
The son of John and Alice Mae Hunnicutt Birge, he was born March 21, 1923 in Russellville.
He married Theora V. Bowers on November 28, 1942. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed spending time with family at the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Birge; two brothers, Cecil Birge and Bill Birge; 5 sisters Syble Tucker, Dortha Dixon, Reba Williams, Pauline Whiteside, and Viola Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years Theora V. Birge of Russellville; grandson, Gary Lynn Birge & wife Elizabeth of Anchorage, AK; great grandson, Bryer Robert Birge of Anchorage, AK; great granddaughter, Audrey Lynn Birge of Anchorage, AK; a sister, Bertha Staggs; a brother-in-law, William Bowers of Russellville, AR; 3 sisters- in-law, Ortha Loveless of Murrieta, CA, Sybil Bowden & husband Lawrence of Dover, Lois Hughes & husband William of Russellville; numerous loving nephews & nieces.
Funeral will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Humphrey Chapel. Rev. Ronnie Birge will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Gravel Hill, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by Rogers-Rye VFW Post #2283. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Dixon, Larry Dixon, Truman Dixon, Tommy Birge, Tony Cauthren, and Najim Jamell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be William Bowers, William Hughes, Lawrence Bowden, and Randy Levell.
