Charles was the son of Elburn G. ("Happy") and Audrey Ellen Stewart Owens.

Charles, 48, and his wife, Judy, 49, were on a Memorial Day Trip when around 7:30 p.m. Monday May 31, 1993 they were involved in a double-fatal, two vehicle, automobile accident on Interstate 75, 10 miles north of Mount Vernon, KY and about 42 miles south of Lexington. Charles lost his life, as did the driver of the second car. Judy was injured and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY, where she was listed in serious condition.

Charles was raised in East Oolitic, IN and graduated from Oolitic High School with the Class of 1963. He was a Sgt. in the United States Air Force in Vietnam.

At the time of his death, Charles lived in Ellettsville, IN and worked at ABB, (formerly Westinghouse). He was a member of Dive Christian Church and of Cedar Lodge 161 F & AM of Leesville.

In addition to his wife, Judy, Charles was also survived by two sisters, Mary Jane (Owens) Fraser and Edna (Owens). He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral for Charles was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 1993 at Dive Christian Church.

I could not find a formal Obituary for Charles, so I am only adding details of which I am certain. If anyone has more information, I will be glad to make adjustments to this biography. I don't know Judy's maiden name, or when they were married or if they had children, and I can't recall his sister Edna's married name.
