He was born to parents Peter McAllister and Margaret Lamb. He emigrated to the United States with his mother and 3 siblings, arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania June 23, 1886 on the ship British King. His father had come a year earlier. The family settled in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was first a letter carrier, then worked for the railroad as a fireman and brakeman. He first married Violet Yellig October 7, 1905 and they had three sons. Violet died October 5, 1910. He married Thresia Bauckmann before 1918 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is unknown if Edward and Thresia had any children, none were born before 1920. Sometime after January 1920 (and before his wife's death in 1924) they moved to Savannah, Georgia. He was a car inspector there. Cause of death- murder.
