Andy Hughes was born on June 19, 1948, in Gorman, Texas, to parents, Ollie A. Hughes, Sr. and Leota Holloway Hughes. He grew up in Cisco, Texas, and graduated from Cisco High School in 1966. He attended Cisco Junior College from 1966 to 1968. He married Linda Joyce Peeples in 1968 and had three children. Andy served in the Army during Vietnam and was a member of the Reforger I & II in Germany. He was an active member of the V.F.W., American Legion and supporter of Wounded Warriors. Andy worked as Department Manager at both Lemmens L.P. Gas & West Texas Gas in Abilene, Texas. He retired as a Licensed Truck & Freight Broker in 2008. He was a member of the North Side Baptist Church of Abilene, Texas.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Tammy Renee Hughes. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Smith, of Brownwood, Texas; Glenda Woolsey and her husband, Robert, of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Tonya Dooley, and husband, Jeff, of Breckenridge, Texas; two sons, Bernie Kyle Hughes and Matthew Bryce Hughes, both of Eastland, Texas; four grandchildren, Kelsey Smith and husband, Colby, Austin Dooley, Talia Hughes and Bryce Hughes; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Smith and numerous nephews, nieces and many friends.
