HAINES, DOROTHY LEVY, 89 - a lifelong resident of Atlantic City, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Georgetowne, South Carolina where she has lived for the past five years with her daughter. In the 1930's as a young woman, she was a part of the water show on the Steel Pier, riding the high diving horse, and participating in the water ski events. For many years she was active in Atlantic City Public Relations and the Miss America Pageant. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross, serving on many blood drives and was active in the PTA and the Girl Scouts. She is the widow of Gerald Haines, former Chief of the Atlantic City Fire Department and a boat captain for the State of New Jersey. She is survived by her two daughters, LIVING Aiken-Spruell and LIVING (LIVING) McKinney; her three grandsons, LIVING McKinney, LIVING Aiken and LIVING Aiken, her brother, LIVING Levy, and her seven great grandchildren, LIVING McKinney, LIVING Aiken, LIVING Aiken, LIVING Aiken, LIVING Aiken, LIVING Aiken and LIVING Aiken. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dorothy's Life Celebration and Viewing Saturday, November 17th from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. at Keates and Plum Funeral Home, 3112 Brigantine Ave., Brigantine.
