Funeral Services For Sam Willamson Held Here Last Thursday

Sam B. Williamson was born at Haugesund, Norway, Dec. 21, 1873 , and died after a short illness of pneumonia, at the Story City Hospital May 23, 1954 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 2 days.

He spent the early years of his life of his life in Norway. In 1889, at the age of 16, he came to America and took up a claim in Montana, where he settled on a ranch at Riedel, in southern Blaine County.

He was united in marriage to Anna Gjerde on May 31, 1924 in Blaine County. They resided in that community until 1942 when they moved to Iowa, on the farm southwest of Radcliffe. Mrs. Williamson passed away at their home March 14, 1950. Mr. Williamson spent the remaining years of his life here.

The deceased was the son of Wilhelm and Martha Halvorson, and was one of a family of 11 children. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Halvor, Albert, Christina and Gurina. He is survived by four sisters and two brothers, William Williamson of Havre, Mont., Nels Williamson of Melhevek, Norway; Sarah Moe, Great Falls, Mont.; Tilla Wierson, Roland, Iowa; Ellen Stromsvold, Molstrevog Haugesund, Norway, and Martha Sandenoo of Vikedall, Norway.

Funeral services were held here last Thursday afternoon, 1:30 at the Bergeson Funeral Home, and 2:00 at the Salem Lutheran Church southwest of Radcliffe. The Rev. C.J. Naglestad officiated. Burial was in the Radcliffe Cemetery.

During the services, Everett Eike sang "I Will Sing the Wonder Story," and Mr. And Mrs. Eike sang "The Grand Old Story."

The casketbears were Kerner Helgeson, Oscar Heng, Peter Vickre, Otis Wierson, Carl Tesdal and Swen Imsland.

Relatives from a distance attending the services were Mrs. O.H. Amundson, Mrs. Magnus Isaacson, Mrs. Clara Skorve, Mr and Mrs. Elmer Olson and son, David, all of Forest City, Mrs. Nettie Barka of Lakefield, Minn; and other relatives from Webster City, Story City, Roland, Ellsworth and Jewell.
