Thomas Scott Hendricks, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed quietly from us Friday morning, February 1, 1991. His thoughts and concerns were for others to the end. Our Father in Heaven has indeed called a choice Spirit home.
Born March 16, 1920 in Cove, Utah to Thomas Alma Hendricks and Inez Sarah Larsen Hendricks. He was a lifelong servant of the Lord. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served a mission for the LDS Church in Texas/Louisiana mission. Married his devoted companion, Lois Lavon Muse, August 17, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served our country in the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Carson, Colorado, Fort Riley, Kansas. July of 1949 appointed to the Salt Lake City Police Force as a patrolman. He later joined the Utah Highway Patrol. Most of his career was spent in building and construction. He built numerous chapels, stake centers and quality custom homes in the Salt Lake valley. He was General Partner, Hendricks & Hendricks.
He served his beloved church in many ways, as branch president and counselor, in the bishopric, tour guide, historic Salt Lake Temple Square; served five years, Temple worker, Jordan River Temple; served a mission to the Oakland Temple Visitors Center with his wife, Lois. They were serving a stake mission together at the time of his death. An avid outdoorsman, horseman and Brigham Young University supporter.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of South Jordan; daughters, Kathryn Ann Anderson of Dallas, Texas; Ruth Edwards of Salt Lake City;
Julia Skoubye, and Rosa Elizabeth Baker, both of South Jordan; sons, Thomas Scott Hendricks, of Amarillo, Texas; and Michael Muse Hendricks, Riverton; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Smith Hendricks of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 1991, at the South Jordan 6th LDS Ward, 11250 South 2700 West. Friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, and Tuesday, one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
