Dick was born on March 21,1928, in Francis Mine, a son of the late Silas Peter Ford and Minnie Dale Welch Ford.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Kay Minor Ford, whom he married on September 21, 1985; his three son's, John Michael Ford and his wife, Amand, Richard Joseph Ford and his wife, Karen and Patrick Ford and his wife, Tish; his daughter, Darlene Delle Donna and her husband, Michael; also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Jamie Ford, Michelle Ford, Benjamin Ford, Brandon Ford, Carrie Ford, Stephaine Lucas, Jody Ford, and Allisa M. Ford; tweleve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his loving dog, Bella.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his five brothers; three sisters and one grandson, Richard Alan Ford.
Richard attended school in a one room school house at Kuhn's Run's close to the park, he was also a heavy equipment operator for A & H Coal Company, S&J Groves and a member of the Operating Engineers Local 132, he also worked as a foreman and boss for the King Knob Coal Company. Richard attended the Victor Chapel United Methodist Church in Francis Mines and North Shinnston Baptist Church. He loved to go fishing and camping in his younger years and enjoyed hunting. Richard also loved to visit with people.
Friends may call at the Harmer Funeral Home, in Shinnston, on Wednesday, from 2 - 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2,2012, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Brian Plum officiating. Interment will follow at the Enterprise IOOF Cemetery.
