Johnny Spurlock

Johnny Max Spurlock, age 74, of Eufaula, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, after a brief illness at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Funeral services was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 20, at SouthPoint Church in Eufaula, Alabama with the Rev. Chris Toole and Chris Wortz officiatied. Burial followed in the Old Fairview Cemetery in Eufaula with Kent Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Spurlock was born in Pinckard, Alabama but lived in Eufaula most of his life. He enjoyed fishing with his brother-in-law and spending time with his grandkids and nieces and nephews. He attended all of his grandchildren's ballgames and knew all of the team members. He was renowned for his marvelous sense of humor and wit. He will long be remembered in funny stories told about his everyday life.

Mr. Spurlock is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lythanail Spurlock and his father, Guy Lee Spurlock and his mother Mattie Lee Bowman Spurlock. Mr. Spurlock is survived by his son Donny (Kristen) Spurlock of Wewahitchka, Fla.; daughter Tammy (Matt) Grubbs of Midway, Ala.; three brothers Andrew Spurlock of Albany, Ga., Robert Spurlock of Dothan, Ala., and Paul Spurlock of Eufaula, Ala.; one sister, Pearl Richards of Midland City, Ala.; three grandchildren, Peyton Grubbs, Logan Grubbs and Mason Spurlock; and several nieces and nephews and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law and cousins.

Pallbearers were David Spurlock, Lee Spurlock, B.J. Gray, David Edwards, Jr., Ronnie Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Johnny Carl Spurlock and Alton York.
