Funeral of Mrs Gassaway

The funeral of the late Mrs. John H. Gassaway, of Montgomery County, took place Friday afternoon from the house of her brother, Alex. Armstrong, Esq., Prospect Street.

The remains arrived over the Baltimore and Ohio at 2 o'clock, accompanied by a large number of relatives and friends of the deceased. The services at the house were conducted by Dr. J S. Keiffer and Rev. Mr. Myers of Darnestown , Montgomery County.

Rev. Myers read the services and R. Keiffer delivered a beautiful eulogy on the life and lovely Christian character of the deceased. The Doctor spoke feelingly and forcibly and impressed his bereaved hearers profoundly.

A quartette consisting of Miss Ragan, Mrs Howard, Mr. Wrenshall and S.B. Loose sang during the services. The floral tributes were beautiful and numerous from friends in this city and those of the deceased at her late home.

Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery, whence the remains were followed by a large number of persons. The pall bearers were as follows: Buchanan Schley, A.B. Almoney, Wm P. Lane, J.J. Funk, A.R. Hagner, Chas Webb, J. Chas F. Manning and R.J. Halm
