Billie Johnson was called to be with his Heavenly Father on Jan. 18, 2012. His loving and devoted wife, Betty, was by his side when he left, along with his beloved pet Shelby.

After a lengthy illness, he greatly anticipated that call to come home.

He died at the Toledo Nursing Center in Zwolle. He was born June 19, 1931, in Pitkin to Will and Odeliah Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Betty Johnson. They were married for 42 wonderful years, having renewed their wedding vows on their 40th anniversary.

He is also survived by a son, William Charles and wife, Angela Johnson, of Orange, Texas; daughter, Billie Jean and husband, Leroy Bram, of El Campo, Texas; sister, Thelma and husband, A.O. Condra, of Brazoria, Texas; brother, Benny and wife, Betty Johnson, of Orange, Texas; two granddaughters, Leanne and husband, Derik Lundy, of Richmond, Texas, and Cori Bram of El Campo, Texas; grandson, Michael John Meek of El Campo, Texas; precious great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Catherine Lundy of Richmond, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Billie will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church and belonged to the Little Flock Masonic Lodge of Negreet. He had just received his 25 year pen and certificate on Dec. 22, 2011, while residing at the nursing center. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and belonged to the El Karubah Shrine Temple in Shreveport. He was also a member of the Many Shrine Club, where he served as treasurer and president. He looked forward to every November, as it meant organizing the Shrine Classic basketball tournament. Unfortunately, he finally had to step down due to health problems.

He was also a Korean War veteran, having served from 1948-1952 in the U.S. Army and attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He retired from Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas, after 30 years of service.

The Johnson's loved this area so much that they moved here in 1991.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Little Flock Baptist Church at 1 p.m. It was his wish to be cremated and have his remains interred at the church cemetery. He will also receive full Masonic rites of burial.

Members of Little Flock Masonic Lodge and the Many Shrine Club will act as honorary pallbearers.

The family offers a special thank you to Toledo Nursing Center, Superior Hospice, Chaplain Buck Furrow and Dr. Jack Corley.
