Ventura County resident since 1967, Gini passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at 91 years of age with her family by her side.

She was born on March 13, 1920, in Altoona, Pa., where she also grew up. Gini was the only child of Mary Eloise (Cook) Herr and Louis Samuel Herr. She met her husband-to-be, Richard Reed, in the first grade and later they enjoyed 60 years of marriage together and raised five children. Gini was a very devoted wife and mother.

Along with being a wonderful homemaker, she also worked outside the home for many years. She was an avid swimmer, loved to paint, sew, and knit. Gini knitted 100 hats for the homeless each year for many years. She was very involved in her childrens' and grandchildrens' lives and also active in her church.
