Obituary for Harvey Gene Walters by Day Funeral Home, Bloomington, Indiana:

Services for Gene Walters, 82, who died on February 3, 2011 in New Braunfels, TX, will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington. The Reverend Curt Deming will oficiate and the burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Born December 30, 1928 in Monroe County, Gene was the son of A.L. and Nova Walters. He was a member of First United Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Gene was graduated from Bloomington High School, class of 1947, Franklin College, class of 1951 and received his Masters and Doctoral Degree from Indiana University. His career in teaching involved Reitz High School of Evansville, Indiana, Binford Middle School, Bloomington High School and Indiana University all of Bloomington, Indiana. Gene retired from teaching in 1988 after 38 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the American Legion and a life time member of the3 Elks Lodge, #446.

Gene and his wife, Charlotte, observed their 61st wedding anniversary on July 3, 2010. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte of Bloomington, daughter Kim Bu Shey and granddaughters, Gina Hayward and Teddy Bu Shey, all of New Braunfels, TX, his sister Ann Blaylock of Melbourne, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 9, from 6 to 8 pm.
