Wade Edwards' gravesite. The flowers to the right show the location of his mother, Elizabeth Edwards's burial place. Her grave remains unmarked as of the date this picture was taken.

I heard Elizabeth Edwards speak at a Compassionate Friends Conference in July of 2007. I determined at that moment, that if I was ever near Charlotte, NC, I would visit Wade's grave and tend it as she did. Little did I know at the time, I would be tending her grave as well. This summer I had the opportunity to visit Oakwood Cemetery and tend their graves. I especially liked what Elizabeth Edwards said, "It doesn't matter to me whether all this sounds odd. I did it because it made it easier for me to think there would be mothers who came after me to tend to Wade's grave when I no longer could."
