Louise is the daughter of Jesse Baldwin Capel and Delilah Crouch. Her mother died when she only about 2 years old. Her father next married Charlotte Richardson Curtis. Louise is a half sister of my great grandmother

Louise married Charles Manley Covington on Oct 26, 1875 in Steeles, Richmond, NC. Charles is the brother of my great grandfather, Jeff. They had 7 children total, only 4 that made it to be adults.

Louise and Charles left N.C. and moved to S.C. shortly after getting married as there first child born there. The photo of Louise is taken in Columbia, I suspect in the mid to late 1870's. Charles was the oldest son of Terrell and he and his band of brothers made thier fotunes in the turpentine business. During this time period they likely moved from place to place quite often as they would buy a piece of land and get the most out of its resources and then turn around and sell it for farm land. They can be found living in Peedee, Marion County, SC on the 1880 census. It is also known that they were in the Waycross area of Georgia for a time during the mid to late 1880's.

Louise was only 41 years old when she died. There were many diseases during the late 1800s that brought peoples life to an early end. Her marker does not provide an exact date of death or birth but from census records its known she died in 1897. This date is also stated in 2 bios written about Charles. I should also mention that Mary Ella Bass Covington, who is also at Mount Hope, died not a year before Louise. She is the wife of Henry, Charles's brother. Charles and Henry both left S.C. and moved to Florida very soon after losing thier wives. They would both remarry.

Mrs. Charles Manley Covington died yesterday at the residence of Dr. F. P. Covington of Dargan street.

A few months ago, on account of declining health, Mrs. Covington was brought to this city from her home in Carrabelle, Fla., in order that she might be under the doctor's constant and watchful care. Cheerful all the while, at times she would rally and more than once she became able to sit up.

Mr. Covington, who returned to Carrabelle just one week ago, was notified by wire, and he will come to Florence as quickly as steam can bring him.Mrs. Covington was a noble Christian woman, and in all her sufferings she was marvelously patient and resigned. She leaves a husband and four children, one of whom, Miss Jessie, was with her when she passed away. These with a large number of relatives and friends are left to mourn.
