Donald "Donny" Wayne Gorden of Mildred, born on January 17, 1949 went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Donny served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War and continued his service to his country for a total of nine years. Then he went on to serve with the Corps of Engineers and later as a Security Officer. He spent many years working in the oil field with his Dad and brothers.His favorite pastimes were arrowhead hunting and researching the Civil War.

He was preceded in death by his parents Billy D. Gorden, Sr. and Ruby Inez (Odom) Gorden. He is survived by his wife Joyce Gorden of Mildred; Children Patrick "Skeeter" Gorden and wife Kimmy of Mildred and daughter Amber McNett and husband Jon of Teague; Step-children Kerrie Head, Janette Dailey, Eddie Montgomery, J. P. Montgomery, and Brent Montgomery; 4 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren; Brothers Billy D. Gorden,Jr and wife Nelda of Mildred and Rodney L.Gorden and Wife Mona of Richland; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members including Donnie Barnabee.

Visitation to be held 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Chapel. Military burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Gorden, Tim Gorden, Tony Gorden, Chris Gorden, Lance Gorden and Patrick "Sketter" Gorden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee Richardson, Pete Lucas and Brent Montgomery.
