She was the daughter of Henry Ammons and Alice Senora Turner Ammons.

Her Obituary in the Greensboro News & Record (NC), September 7, 1999, provides that she was a lifelong resident of Greensboro, and she retired from the Southern Webbing Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. "Bill" Amos. Survivors are her sisters, Grace A. Ritter of Greensboro and Vallie Ray Bullington of Burlington.
