SANTA FE — Mr. Lawrence D.
Cheatham Sr., passed from this
life Tuesday morning at Humana
Hospital — Clear Lake, while in
his 75th year.
Born October 25, 1917 in
Springhill, La., Mr. Cheatham had
been a resident of Santa Fe for 57
years. He had been a member of
IBEW Local Union #527 for 55
years. Mr. Cheatham was also a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving
in the South Pacific and was a
member of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Cheatham was preceded in
death by his parents, W.D. and
Lola Cheatham.
Survivors include his beloved
wife, Doris Mae Cheatham, Santa-
Fe; sons, Charles E. New, Sr.,
Lawrence D. Cheatham, Jr., Bob
Cheatham, all of Santa Fe; daughters,
Tammy Hilton and Pat Parrish,
both of Santa Fe; sisters, Jewel
Dunigan, Springhill, La., Voncille
Tombrella, Lottie McDowell,
Verda Mae Kay, all of Santa Fe;
brother, George Cheatham, Santa
Fe; eleven grandchildren and four
great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted
10:00 a.m. Thursday in the
Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home,
Rev. Dale Chance officiating. Interment
will follow at Grace Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Brian
Cheatham, Floyd Cheatham,
Jason Cheatham, David Dittrich,
Sammy Hilton, Charles New, Jr.,
Chuck Springer and Eddie
Tombrella.
Honorary bearers will be Sonny Hultquist, Dayton Mitchell, Robert
Tombrella and Kevin Chance.
Friends may call from 4 — 9 PM
Thursday at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make
memorials in the form of donations
to the Galveston Hospice
