"Life of 80-Year-Old Woman snuffed out on Schenevus Street -- An eighty-year-old Schenevus woman, Mrs. Libbie Perry, was fatally injured by an automobile in that village on Thursday afternoon at about 5 o'clock. According to Coroner Norman W. Getman of Oneonta, Mrs. Perry was struck by an automobile operated by George Alexander, aged thirty-eight of Worcester, as she was crossing Main street, on the way to her home. According to State Trooper Edward C. Elmendorf of Troop C, Schenevus substation, who investigated, Mr. Alexander said Mrs. perry 'stepped into the path of my car so suddenly that I didn't have time to avoid striking her.' He was not held. Coroner Getman gave a verdict of accidental death caused by a crushed pelvis and internal injuries. Mrs. Perry was born at Westville October 18, 1858, a daughter of Judson and Hannah (Gano) Cornish. December 22, 1880, she married Floyd Perry of Elk Creek who brought his bride to live on a farm just out of the village where they resided until about twenty-five years ago, when they moved to Elk Creek village. About seventeen years ago they moved to Schenevus, where they both were active in the Methodist church. Mr. Perry died about three years ago, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Cornish of Milford, came to live with her in the fall. October 18th, the family celebrated her eightieth birthday at the home of her son, Burrell Perry of Chaseville, with four generations present. Her family, including children, grandchildren and great grandson were with her at Thanksgiving time and spent the day at her home. She and Mr. Perry had celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grover Chase. She is survived by the son, Burrell Perry; a daughter, Mrs. Flora Chase; three grandchildren, Paul Chase, Mrs. Edna Mercier and Mrs. Alberta Bagley; one great-grandson, Carl Chase; one brother, Fred Cornish of Richmond Hill, L.I., several nieces and nephews. The family will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church."
