Born Louise Griffin Parkinson on September 1, 1876 in Washington, District of Columbia to Joseph Griffin Parkinson, a prominent patent lawyer, and Sally Garrett.

She was the former wife of Professor Platon Torild Washington Arnoldson, whom she married, June 16, 1907 in Salt Lake, Utah.

She was an Associate Professor in the Foreign Language Department at Montana State University, retiring in 1947 after 27 years of service. In 1939 Pacific Coast painter, Bertha Ballou, painted her portrait in the robes of Doctor of Letters, a degree she had secured at the University of Paris (Sorbonne).

Posthumously she was awarded the Croix d' Officier d' Academic by Baron Louis de Cabrol, Consul General of France.

The award was accepted in her name by her daughter, Miss Astrid Hildegard Arnoldson.
