Mildred Evelyn Hrebec, 94, of Ord, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at the Valley County Health System Hospital. Mildred was born April 16, 1917, in Valley County to Edward and Antonia (Adamek) Kasper.

On Sept. 8, 1941, Mildred married Oldrich Hrebec at Grand Island. He died in 1985.

Mildred attended rural country school in Valley County and graduated from Ord High School in 1934.

After graduation she was the manager of the Ord Grill.

While Mr. Hrebec served in the U.S. Army, the couple lived in Kentucky. Following the service they settled on a farm east of Ord. Mildred worked for the Community Action in Loup City for 17 years. In 1981, they retired and moved into Ord.

Mildred continued to live in her home until 2005, when she moved into Grandview Assisted and Independent Living Center.

Mildred was a member of the Ord First United Methodist Church, Loup Valley No. 437 Lodge and Sandhill Flats Extension Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning and playing bingo. She will be remembered for her delicious kolaches and houska.

Mildred was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Oldrich Hrebec; son, Chuck Hrebec; three infant siblings; three sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Alan Bartlett of Wiggins, Colo., Shirley and Willard McCain of Ord and JoAnne and Ron Kasselder of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery, Ord, NE..
