Died, in Buffalo, N. Y., on Saturday, October 8th, 1898, George R. Hazard, aged 57 years. Mr. Hazard had been sick for a long time, and had resorted to various treatments by home and Penn Yan physicians, and had finally been persuaded to go to Buffalo for an opperation [sic] which he stood and it was believed that he was doing well, until Friday last when his wife and others were sent for, only to see him die on the following day. His remains were brought to his home on Sunday morning, via Geneva. He had spent nearly his entire life in this town, and for a number of years had been proprietor o f the Dresden Hotel, and had won very many friends by his kind and obliging ways as a landlord. He leaves a wife, mother and two sisters to mourn his loss. The blow falls very hard on his aged mother, Mrs. C. C. Carr, who had just burried [sic]a daughter, Mrs. Sperry, of Ludlowville. His funeral was held from the Presbyterian church on Monday afternoon , at 3 o ’clock. Rev. Mr. Hull officiating and Dr. O. D. Davis assisting and his remains laid to rest in evergreen cemetery.
