Born in Galveston, Ind., Mrs. McConnell came to Manatee County from Muncie in 1985. She was a registered nurse and former health officer at Ball State University. She was a Presbyterian. She was a past national president of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, involved in Eagle Village committees, former American Red Cross and member of Order of Eastern Star of Galveston for 50 years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; one daughter, Nancy Geroy of North Carolina; one son, David Alvey of Marietta, Ga.; and one stepson, Roger of Muncie.
